I am getting indifferent to sorrow
as if my share of joy is getting reduced each day
What’s happening to the beauty of heaven and earth
its the same place but its charm is getting lost each day
its the same tavern ; its the same wine
its the same lamp but the light gets dimmer each day
its the same life but such is my condition O Jigar
my life is diminishing from my life span each day

Very sad maybe less wine would have been helpful
Ha ! Ha ! I guess you are right but are you talking about me or the poet Jigar.
Once a preacher told the famous Urdu poet Ghalib ” If you have wine you will not go to heaven” to which he responded
” If wine is there which fool will like to go to heaven ?”
I’ve never read Jigar Moradabadi Sahab but this one is really a good one.
Dear Sunil,
Jigar is one of the most quoted poet after Ghalib. You must have heard the famous lines yeh ishq nahin aasaan bas itna samajh leeje ek aag ka dariya hai aur doob ke jaana hai.
He is one of my favourites and if you read him you will really love his poetry. you can check it out at http://www.kavitakosh.org
